BRONTE HOUSE 2

“Chris has the ability to create light-filled form and space. He created a home for us that is a daily pleasure to live in.” Julie G.

This home in Bronte involved a significant renovation to an existing heritage-listed California bungalow, it was a challenging build upon a sloping site. We decided to bookend the site with a new studio space on the back boundary, effectively creating an internal rambling courtyard space, which we planted heavily with native costal banksia and grasses.

The interior of the home was then activated with sunlight reflected of the new studio and via north facing skylights. Low sheen waxes on the walls and oiled surfaces on the floor softly reflect this light as it changes colour and intensity throughout the day and the year.
