PACIFIC VILLAGE CHINA WORLD EXPO

Awarded 2010 China World Expo, Gold Medal Zone B for Most Creative Display.

Chris Cole worked with Architects Pacific as the project’s Design Architect for the 15 Pacific Island nations participating in the World Expo. The Pacific Village installation was inspired by the theme of Voyaging across the Pacific. The eight-metre high freestanding curvilinear installations can be interpreted in many ways – as the sail of a canoe, the hull of a sailing ship or the husk of a coconut floating on the sea. Each Pacific nation chose to decorate their individual pod in their own unique way.
