PADDINGTON COTTAGE

A single bedroom 1890’s workers cottage is converted into a contemporary city living and work space for a client that travels regularly. The brief was to keep faith with the original scale of the cottage, to keep materials simple and robust with a haptic quality, to ensure that each space has a connection to the outside through the use of natural light, a distant view glimpsed or the touch of a gentle breeze and finally to keep present the memory of ancient pathway from ridge to harbour.
